Top 8 couples dance for me on my birthday

Hello and welcome again to yet another week of our favorite dance show. I would like first to apologize for the lateness of this and the next post. Today is actually my birthday, so because of that, I have been quite busy. So please forgive me. I was contemplating not posting at all, but I didn’t want to do that to everyone. So instead, I shall just put these two posts out a day late, and next week I should be back on schedule. So thanks for dealing with it. Now onto the show.
This week we have the top 8 couples performing for the judges and for America. This weeks special guest judge is Adam Shankman, Executive Producer for the new Hairspray movie that came out last year. Judging with Adam, as always, are Mary and Nigel. So that’s it for that bit, let’s get to the actual performances.
Kherington & Twitch go fist this week with a Hip Hop number from Tabitha & Nepoleon Dumo. Twitch, as a Hip Hop dancer himself, was amazing, which was to be expected. Kherington, however, is a Contemporary dancer. And for a Contemporary dancer, she was totally amazing as well. These two were on point, they were with it. As I mentioned last week, Hip Hop has a lot of synchronistic movement, and these two were just perfect. By far, one of the best, if not THE best performance of the night. I do say that, however, without seeing any of the other performances yet. So let’s see if it sticks.
Next we have Courtney & Gev doing the Rumba From Melanie LaPatin & Tony Meredith. Look it, here’s the thing. I will probably say this over and over, but this show puts dancers into situations with styles of dance they have never done, and they are expected to do great. With that said, for a Contemporary dancer and a B-Boy, they were stunningly great. Besides for the fact that Courtney was so close wearing nothing for this dance, they both looked great.
Then we have Comfort & Chris with a Jazz routine from Tyce DiOrio. This one is a bit hard for me to judge. To be honest, I liked it, but I really don’t know how to talk about it. I wanna express why I liked it and what I liked about it, but I actually don’t know what to say. So I guess I don’t like it as much as I thought. Is that the weirdest review ever, or is it just me?
Up next we have Jessica & Will doing Disco from Doriana Sanchez. Something about this performance bothered me. While I was watching it, I was having trouble putting my finger on it. Then Nigel made a comment about how Disco could look cheesy if done wrong. That’s when it hit me. This was cheesy. It wasn’t all that bad, but it just seemed wrong. Now here’s the thing. The judges loved it, and Doriana looked like she was happy with it. However, this is something I think America is going to look at and think. Yes, the judges will persuade enough to probably keep them out of the bottom three, I think they are going to look at this and think it was a bit slow awkward. Then again, I could be wrong.
Now we are in the final stretch with Kourtni & Matt doing a Contemporary routine from first time show choreographer Sonya Tayeh. Not only does Sonya look unique and original, but her routines are also very unique and original. This was such an awesome routine and I totally was with the two of them on this one. I thought they were both just amazing, and I totally loved it. These two had better be back next week, and the show needs to put Sonya on a whole hell of a lot more after this.
After them we have Chelsea & Thayne doing the Quick Step from Heather Smith. Ok, this middle section, so far is throwing me off. It was a good routine, and they did a great job, but it was odd for me again. This one bothered me almost the same as the Disco number a few moments ago. It didn’t look right. For a quick step, they made it look too slow. I don’t know man, I hope the last two are better, but three of the last four were not good enough.
Then, we have Chelsie & Mark with a Hip Hop routine from Tabitha & Nepoleon Dumo. All I can say is wow. First I have to say I love Tabitha & Nepoleon because you almost never see a Hip Hop routine to something other than Hip Hop or R&B music. But these two took a Rock Pop ballad and made it Hip Hop. It was insane choreography. As for Chelsia & Mark, they were perfect. Remember everything I said about Kherington & Twitch? Well, take all that and double it, and you have these guys. This is now my favorite routine, and Tabby & Poly are now on the top of my favorite choreographer list.
Closing the show we have Katee & Joshua doing the Samba from Tony Meredith & Melanie LaPatin. These two, in my opinion, have always been the couple to beat. Tonight, was no exception. These two were sensational. I don’t know if that routine was my favorite of the night, but these two were, absolutely the best couple of the night. I’m gushing because it deserves it. I don’t know what else to say except god damn, that was hot.
And now the hard part; who is in the bottom three? To be honest, it’s actually not that hard. The bottom three is Chelsea & Thayne, Comfort & Chris and Jessica & Will. Now this is the actual hard part. Who do I think will actually go home? Well, as always, without seeing the solos, I would send home Chelsea and Thayne. But it’s not up to just me. It’s up to America. By the time you read this, you will already know who went home, but for those who don’t, tomorrow, we shall discuss the results. I try to put them up early during the day so you don’t have to wait long, but no promises.
So until tomorrow, be good y’all rest easy.
